Set oceanfront overlooking Kailua Bay in the heart of Kona town, the Royal Kona Resort is within walking distance of restaurants, shops, historical sites and activities. After a multi-million dollar renovation, guests enjoy upgraded guestrooms in the Ali'i and Lagoon Towers, a private saltwater swimming lagoon, oceanfront pool, tennis courts and spa. The resort also offers meeting facilities, wedding services and Kona's best oceanfront luau. Dine at the water's edge at Don the Beachcomber signature restaurant or try one of the many unique Mai Tai creations at Don's Mai Tai Bar.

The Royal Kona Resort is now a 100% non-smoking hotel. All guestrooms are non-smoking. Smoking is not permitted in any public areas. Beginning November 16, 2026, Royal Kona Resort will start exterior renovations on the Alii Tower, with work continuing through 2027. Construction will occur weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and guests may notice scaffolding, painting, and related noise. Affected rooms will be unavailable to reduce disruption. The Bay and Lagoon Towers remain unaffected. Guests may upgrade to these towers, subject to availability and applicable rates.
