This venerable New Orleans hotel sits majestically at the foot of Royal Street.  Our guests have the best point of departure for all things New Orleans. Step outside this French Quarter hotel to discover shop after shop of fabulous European antiques, estate jewelry, Oriental rugs, and art and antiquities from around the world. Quaint New Orleans restaurants and specialty shops line the cobblestone French Quarter streets.  Enjoy New Orleans tourist attractions just steps from our New Orleans hotel, including Jackson Square, the Old French Market, and the Riverwalk, where tourists and locals stroll the levee and watch the steamboats along the Mississippi River.

Carousel Bar & Lounge

Immortalized in the writings of Ernest Hemingway and other timeless authors, the revolving Carousel Bar & Lounge is a part of New Orleans history. A long-time favorite New Orleans hot-spot, the famous Carousel Bar is the only revolving bar in New Orleans.  For decades, it has lured guests in to take a spin on the 24-seat, bright circus-clad Merry-Go-Round. It is often filled with colorful local characters telling stories about Hotel Monteleone and our celebrated city.

Installed in 1949, the 24-seat bar turns on 2,000 large steel rollers, pulled by a chain powered by a one-quarter horsepower motor. Patrons circumnavigate at one revolution every 15 minutes. The ride doesn’t end there. Some of its riders’ most creative ideas, inspirations and business deals have been shaken and stirred to fruition here, not to mention some of the best spirits.
